📚 On Effort & Laziness 💪 For Overcoming Laziness
आलस्यात्कुतो विद्या
। विद्यायां
कुतो धनम्
।
धनात्कुतो मित्रम्
। मित्रात्कुतः सुखम् ॥
ālasyāt kuto vidyā, vidyāyāṁ kuto dhanam
।
dhanāt kuto mitram, mitrāt kutaḥ sukham ॥
From laziness, how can there be
learning? Without learning, how can there be wealth?
Without wealth, how can there be
friends? Without friends, how can there be happiness?
उद्यमेन् हि

प्रविशन्ति मुखे
मृगाः ॥
udyamena hi siddhyanti kāryāṇi na
manorathaiḥ ।
na hi suptasya siṁhasya praviśanti mukhe
mṛgāḥ ॥
By effort alone tasks are accomplished,
not merely by wishful thinking. Even a lion cannot have deer enter its mouth
while sleeping.
आलस्यं हि
मनुष्याणां शरीरस्थो
महान् रिपुः
।
नास्त्युद्यमसमो बन्धुः
कृत्वा यं
नावसीदति ॥
ālasyam hi manuṣyāṇāṁ śarīrastho mahān
ripuḥ ।
nāsty-udyama-samo bandhuḥ kṛtvā yaṁ
nāvasīdati ॥
Laziness is the great enemy residing in
the body. There is no friend like effort, for with effort one never perishes/sink/fail.
मूकं करोति वाचालं पङ्गुं लङ्घयते गिरिम् ।
यत्कृपा तमहं वन्दे परमानन्द माधवम् ॥
mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim ।
yatkṛpā tamahaṁ vande paramānanda mādhavam ॥
By His grace, the mute become eloquent, the lame leap across mountains.
To that Lord Mādhava, the Supreme Bliss, I offer my salutations.

Knowledge is a man’s true beauty and
hidden wealth. It gives joy, honor, and comfort.
Knowledge is the greatest teacher,
friend in foreign lands, supreme deity, and respected by kings.
Without knowledge, man is like a beast.
🔥 For Fearlessness
उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् ।

uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam

ātmaiva hy-ātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur
ātmanaḥ ॥
Let a man uplift himself by his own
mind, let him not degrade himself. The mind is both friend and enemy of the
self. (Bhagavad Gītā 6.5)
ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ।
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात् ॥
oṁ tryambakaṁ yajāmahe sugandhiṁ puṣṭivardhanam ।
urvārukamiva bandhanān mṛtyor mukṣīya mā'mṛtāt ॥
We worship the three-eyed Lord (Shiva), fragrant and nourishing.
May He free us from the bondage of death,
Like a cucumber is freed from its stalk —
But not from the nectar of immortality.

form, reclining on the serpent, with a lotus in His navel,
the Lord of gods, support of the
universe, cloud-colored, with auspicious limbs, beloved of Lakṣmī,
lotus-eyed, accessible through
