Navgraha

The Navagraha stotras are a set of nine verses, one for each planetary deity (graha). 

Here’s the complete set :


☀ Surya (Sun)

जपाकुसुमसङ्काशं काश्यपेयं महाद्युतिम् ।
तमोऽरिं सर्वपापघ्नं प्रणतोऽस्मि दिवाकरम् ॥

japākusuma-saṅkāśaṁ kāśyapeyaṁ mahā-dyutim ।
tamo’rim sarva-pāpaghnaṁ praṇato’smi divākaram ॥

I bow to the Sun, red like the hibiscus,
Descendant of Kashyapa, of great brilliance,
Enemy of darkness, destroyer of sins.


🌙 Chandra (Moon)

दधिशङ्खतुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णवसम्भवम् ।
नमामि शशिनं सोमं शम्भोर्मुकुटभूषणम् ॥

dadhi-śaṅkha-tuṣārābhaṁ kṣīrodārṇava-sambhavam ।
namāmi śaśinaṁ somaṁ śambhor-mukuṭa-bhūṣaṇam ॥

I bow to Chandra, shining like curd and conch,
Born from the ocean of milk,
Adorning Shiva’s crown.


♂ Mangala (Mars)

धरणीगर्भसम्भूतं विद्युत्कान्तिसमप्रभम् ।
कुमारं शक्तिहस्तं च मङ्गलं प्रणम्यहम् ॥

dharaṇī-garbha-sambhūtaṁ vidyut-kānti-samaprabham ।
kumāraṁ śakti-hastaṁ ca maṅgalaṁ praṇamya-ham ॥

I bow to Mangala, born of Earth,
Radiant as lightning,
Holding a spear, youthful and strong.


☿ Budha (Mercury)

प्रियङ्गुकलिकाश्यामं रूपेणाप्रतिमं बुधम् ।
सौम्यं सौम्यगुणोपेतं तं बुधं प्रणम्यहम् ॥

priyaṅgu-kalikā-śyāmaṁ rūpeṇāpratimaṁ budham ।
saumyaṁ saumya-guṇopetaṁ taṁ budhaṁ praṇamya-ham ॥

I bow to Budha, dark as bud of priyaṅgu,
Unequalled in beauty,
Gentle, endowed with virtues.


♃ Brihaspati (Jupiter)

देवानां च ऋषीणां च गुरुं काञ्चनसन्निभम् ।
बुद्धिभूतं त्रिलोकेशं तं नमामि बृहस्पतिम् ॥

devānāṁ ca ṛṣīṇāṁ ca guruṁ kāñcana-sannibham ।
buddhi-bhūtaṁ trilokeśaṁ taṁ namāmi bṛhaspatim ॥

I bow to Brihaspati, guru of gods and sages,
Golden-hued,
Embodiment of wisdom, lord of the three worlds.


♄ Shani (Saturn)

नीलांजनसमाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम् ।
छायामार्तण्डसम्भूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम् ॥

nīlāñjana-samābhāsaṁ ravi-putraṁ yamāgrajam ।
chāyā-mārtaṇḍa-sambhūtaṁ taṁ namāmi śanaiścaram ॥

I bow to Shani, blue-hued as collyrium,
Son of the Sun, elder brother of Yama,
Born of Chhaya and Surya.


♀ Shukra (Venus)

हिमकुण्डमृणालाभं दैत्यानां परमं गुरुम् ।
सर्वशास्त्रप्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणम्यहम् ॥

hima-kuṇḍa-mṛṇālābhaṁ daityānāṁ paramaṁ gurum ।
sarva-śāstra-pravaktāraṁ bhārgavaṁ praṇamya-ham ॥

I bow to Shukra, white as snow and lotus stalk,
Guru of the demons,
Teacher of all scriptures, son of Bhrigu.


☊ Rahu (North Node)

अर्धकायं महावीर्यं चन्द्रादित्यविमर्दनम् ।
सिंहिकागर्भसम्भूतं तं राहुं प्रणम्यहम् ॥

ardha-kāyaṁ mahā-vīryaṁ candrāditya-vimardanam ।
siṁhikā-garbha-sambhūtaṁ taṁ rāhuṁ praṇamya-ham ॥

I bow to Rahu, half-bodied, of immense power,
Tormentor of Sun and Moon,
Born of Simhika.


☋ Ketu (South Node)

पालाशपुष्पसङ्काशं तारकाग्रहमस्तकम् ।
रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणम्यहम् ॥

pālāśa-puṣpa-saṅkāśaṁ tārakā-graha-mastakam ।
raudraṁ raudrātmakaṁ ghoraṁ taṁ ketuṁ praṇamya-ham ॥

I bow to Ketu, resembling the palāśa flower,
Head of the stellar planets,
Fierce and terrifying in form.


Benefit:
Reciting the Navagraha mantras daily is believed to balance planetary influences, bring harmony, and remove obstacles in life.
